Eversheds’ Konexo Boosts Alternative Legal Services with High-Profile Hires

Konexo, the alternative legal services arm of Eversheds Sutherland, has embarked on a strategic recruitment move to enhance its alternative legal services offering. The firm has brought onboard three high-profile former in-house lawyers, expected to further bolster Eversheds’ position in the competitive alternative legal services provider (ALSP) marketplace.

The new hires are Hugh Cooke, former general counsel of Intu Properties, John Bennett, previously general counsel at Bank of Ireland U.K., and COO of legal at Santander, and Stephen Cooke, who served as deputy general counsel and legal COO at HSBC.

Konexo’s recruitment strategy aims to seize upon the demand for specialized operational advice in four critical areas. The strategy, termed as “bridging the gap between in-house and private practice,” includes offering an interim general counsel to companies, delivering advice on strategic issues, providing coaching, and potentially redesigning in-house teams.

Alternative legal services, a promising sector that has been flourishing for over ten years, relies on the principle of filling market gaps. Law firms have been instrumental in this growth by offering tech-backed solutions and providing clients with lawyers on a more flexible and contract basis.
