International law firm Baker McKenzie has announced a joint venture with the Korean international dispute resolution law firm, KL Partners. This venture marks the second time a foreign law firm has been permitted to practice Korean law since the country opened its legal market in 2011.
This initiative, transitioning under the name Baker McKenzie & KL Partners Joint Venture Law Firm (Baker McKenzie KLP JV), has received the official green light from Korea’s Ministry of Justice. The launch, scheduled for the middle of this month, will introduce over 20 lawyers into the partnership, as per a statement from Baker McKenzie.
KL Partners, Baker McKenzie’s partner in this venture, is well-regarded for its specialization in international dispute resolution and corporate M&A.
