Amazon Seeks Dismissal of TrackTime’s Request for New Patent Trial

Amazon recently appealed to a Delaware judge to dismiss a plea from TrackTime for a fresh trial. Following a jury’s decision that Amazon had not violated a multimedia patent with its music and Audible platforms, the Virginia-based firm TrackTime has requested a new trial. Amazon is contesting this request, arguing that TrackTime’s allegations about the trial are not grounded in reality.

TrackTime is a Virginia-based company specializing in multimedia patents. It recently alleged that Amazon’s music and Audible platforms had infringed upon a patent it holds. The case went to trial, where a jury ruled in favor of Amazon, rejecting TrackTime’s claims. Uncontent with the jury’s decision, TrackTime has requested a new trial.

Amazon, in response, is pushing back. They argue that TrackTime’s claims about the original trial misrepresent the facts at hand. Thus, they are urging a Delaware judge to reject TrackTime’s bid for a new trial.

It will now be up to the Delaware judge to decide whether TrackTime’s request for a new trial is warranted or whether the original verdict stands.
