LexisNexis Unveils AI-Powered Legal Tools Lexis Snapshot and Lexis Create

Continuing to innovate in the legal technology space, LexisNexis has recently announced two new offerings, both leveraging generative Artificial Intelligence. These releases follow on the heels of their recently introduced generative AI legal research tool, Lexis+ AI. The two new products, Lexis Snapshot and Lexis Create, further underscore the foray of AI into legal research and drafting processes.

The first of these products, Lexis Snapshot, is designed to assist users of the company’s Courtlink service by providing AI-generated summaries of new case filings. This service aims to streamline the process of reviewing new lawsuits, generating concise summaries that include important information such as the nature of the case, the involved parties, claimed damage, and requested remedies. Although presently, the tool only covers federal civil cases, there are plans to extend its application to state cases as well. Existing Courtlink subscribers will have complimentary access to Snapshot until the end of this year.

Lexis Create, the second offering, enhances Microsoft Word with AI-supported drafting utility. In the initial launch in August, Lexis Create was presented to the U.S. market. Now, the integration of Lexis+ AI allows users to access generative AI functions directly, offering additional assistance in drafting documents. These AI capabilities include the ability to ask legal questions, generate drafts, and summarize cases. Future enhancements are planned to introduce features such as smart redlining and clause benchmarking.

Reflecting on the recent introduction of Lexis+ AI, LexisNexis reported significant interest in the product. According to customer survey responses, attributes such as ease of use, time savings, trustworthy results, and overall usefulness have been key factors in the high adoption rate. Plans are in place to expand the tool to additional countries in 2024.

Both Lexis Snapshot and Lexis Create, powered by Lexis+ AI, are now commercially available, further advancing AI’s journey in reshaping the legal industry. Find out more about these innovations here.
