Joshua D. Wright, former professor at George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School and founding partner of Lodestar Law & Economics, is involved in legal disputes following allegations of sexual misconduct that led to his resignation. Recently, he lodged a complaint against the university citing Title IX violations. This announcement came on November 30.
Wright’s appeal was made in the Circuit Court of Fairfax County against the rector and visitors of George Mason University as well as against Thomas Bluestein, who holds the position of assistant vice president for Equity and Access Services and is the Title IX coordinator at the university. This complaint comes as an effort by Wright, who resigned in June effective in August, asserting that he was compelled to leave his role because, according to the new complaint, “it had been made clear to Mr. Wright through the University’s actions that he was not going to receive any fair process at the University.”
Only a day after filing the Title IX complaint, a separate defamation suit lodged by Wright against several of his accusers was dismissed without prejudice, thus complicating the legal panorama surrounding the former George Mason professor.
