Internet giant Yahoo and technology company Droplets have agreed to confidential settlement terms following a prolonged legal altercation over patent rights. The patents in question were focused on the technology engineered for updating websites. Following a verdict in March delivered by a federal court in California, Yahoo was mandated to pay $28 million to Droplets for infringement damages.
The court case has now been moved to dismissal at the request of both entities. Larger implications of the settlement and how it might impact the companies, or the tech industry at large, remain speculative due to the confidential nature of the agreement.
