Rutgers Law Student Files Suit Alleging Antisemitic Retaliation in University

An Orthodox Jewish student of Rutgers Law School in Newark has filed a lawsuit against the university. The student alleges that the university allowed the student bar to conduct an antisemitic ‘witch hunt’ against him. The purported retaliation followed his objections to some members of the organization sharing a video that, as he posits, downplayed the severity of the Hampas’ attack against Israel on October 7.

The lawsuit comes in light of an increasing number of reports concerning alleged antisemitism in education institutions across the country. As such, the outcome of this case could have far-reaching repercussions for similar disputes in academic spaces in the future.
