On Wednesday, a Texas federal magistrate judge recommended that electronics giant Samsung’s claims of misconduct against two of its former in-house intellectual property attorneys be resolved through a bench trial. This recommendation comes as Samsung is set to go to court over patent infringement claims brought forth by a company newly formed by those same attorneys.
Samsung, a multinational corporation recognized globally for its electronics, alleged misconduct from two of their former intellectual property attorneys. With a federal judge’s recent recommendation, it appears these claims may see resolution through a bench trial.
The allegations come to light at a time when Samsung is preparing to face a separate trial by jury. The charges? Patent infringement claims, filed by a company new on the scene, powered by those same two attorneys who stand accused of misconduct during their time at Samsung.
The legal stage is being set for these back-to-back trials in the month ahead, trials that will offer insight into internal workings of one of the world’s electronics powerhouses, as well as into the strategies of two tenacious former Samsung attorneys now turned potential adversaries.
