Norton Rose Fulbright Reappoints Walied Soliman as Global Chair for 2024 Term

Walied Soliman, a prominent deals attorney, has scored his second term as global chair for 2024 at Norton Rose Fulbright.

Soliman, who co-chairs Norton Rose’s special situations team, was first elected as chair in Canada in 2017 and had previously served as the firm’s global chair in 2019. Soliman takes over from Sydney-based partner Scott Atkins, who held the position of global chair throughout 2023 and will continue his role as Australia Chair. The global chair’s role mainly revolves around acting as the firm’s ambassador, both internally and with clients, with the position rotating between regions annually.

This announcement came after Norton Rose’s global CEO, Gerry Pecht, retired in September, leaving over a year unused in his leadership term. In the aftermath, Jeff Cody and Peter Scott, heads of the U.S. operations and the Europe, Middle East, and Asia region of the firm respectively, took joint charge of the global executive committee.
