The State Bar Court of California has recently made a decision regarding the case of Keith David Griffin, a notable former attorney at Girardi Keese. Rather than deciding to disbar him, they instead opted for a six-month suspension, along with a $1,250 fine. This decision follows Griffin’s alleged misconduct relating to Girardi Keese’s supposed theft of millions of dollars from the families who fell victim to the Lion Air Flight 610 crash.
The court order also stipulated that Griffin must pass a professional conduct examination upon completion of his suspension. The decision represents an alternative reprimand to the ultimate sanction of disbarment, which many had speculated may have been in order for Griffin, given the gravity of the misconduct he was associated with.
