A senior attorney at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Mark Black, has pleaded guilty to serious criminal charges related to child pornography. Black admitted to one count of conspiracy to produce child pornography and one count of coercion and enticement.
Black was purportedly a participant in two online groups with a focus on locating prepubescent girls and compelling them to create sexually explicit content. This disturbing information comes from a detailed report by Reuters which explains that the Justice Department stated Black encouraged a minor to partake in such illegal activity in 2019, and then recorded it secretly. Furthermore, in the same year, Black and an unidentified co-conspirator persuaded another young girl to perform similar acts during a livestream. This was likewise secretly recorded and subsequently shared.
Black had been with the FDIC since 2013 and held a prominent position as special counsel in the office of the FDIC’s general counsel. He was promptly suspended by the agency upon learning of the allegations. Black’s court sentencing is scheduled for April 30, wherein he faces significant penalties, ranging from 15 years to life imprisonment.
