Courtroom Insight, a tool used by law firms and legal organizations to access comprehensive data on judges, arbitrators, and expert witnesses, has broadened its scope with the introduction of a comprehensive lawyer directory. This directory will only be accessible to Courtroom Insight customers.
The directory combines private internal data, dynamically updated proprietary data, and integrated partner content, thereby enhancing the company’s current model. In a significant shift for Courtroom Insight, every lawyer—including those who simultaneously serve as judges, mediators, or expert witnesses—will now feature a single unified profile.
These individual profiles will detail educational backgrounds, work histories (featuring clerkships), admissions, areas of specialty, and self-disclosed diversity information. To further enrich these profiles, customers can layer additional data from Courtroom Insight’s partners, including case histories from LexisNexis and Docket Alarm. This information is organized and standardized using the SALI Alliance taxonomy, ensuring consistent characterization across fields such as areas of practice.
Courtroom Insight CEO, Mark Torchiana, elaborated on the directory’s potential, citing alumni tracking, business development, experience management, and research as potential benefits for law firms.
“For years, our clients have requested a comprehensive lawyer directory. Our latest offering aligns perfectly with our ongoing mission to create a comprehensive legal directory by compiling essential data, identifying connections between lawyers and organizations and presenting them succinctly,” Torchiana said.
With this launch, one of the most significant transformations that Courtroom Insight has made is its move towards consolidated profiles. As many legal professionals hold multiple roles—acting as judge, counselor, arbitrator, or expert—different sets of data get assigned to them. Consolidation merges these different roles into a cohesive profile.
Notwithstanding the fact that many of Courtroom Insight’s clientele are large law firms, there are plans to explore pricing options for individual subscriptions, Torchiana added.
Initial feedback on the new directory has been positive, with Keli Whitnell, Director of Firm Intelligence at Troutman Pepper, commending its accuracy. “Reliable attorney data underpins multiple strategic initiatives. Courtroom Insight’s ability to deliver this via their platform played a critical role in our decision to invest in their service,” Whitnell stated.
