Widow’s Lawsuit Against Nelson Mullins Seeks $2M in Unpaid Dues for Deceased Partner

The saga of the legal battle between the widow of Bret A. Cohen, chair of Nelson Mullins’ Labor & Employment practice, and the firm continues. Cohen, unfortunately, succumbed to brain cancer in June 2023. His widow has now filed a lawsuit against the firm, alleging that Cohen had been deprived of a bonus and “overage allocations” amounting to approximately $1.9 million.

In the recent legal filings, it has been alleged that despite Cohen’s significant contributions to the firm’s Labor and Employment practice while battling cancer, he was denied his legitimate earnings. His widow emphasizes that, in addition to the emotional pain caused by her husband’s death, she is now grappling with financial hardships as a result of the missing payments.

With more than $2 million dollars at stake, the case continues to unfold, as the widow seeks to claim what she and her late husband believe to be rightfully owed.
