Monsanto Grabs Victory in Arkansas Roundup Trial as Delaware Jury Remains Deadlocked

Two recent Roundup verdicts have provided contrasting outcomes for Monsanto, the manufacturer of the pesticide Roundup. Monsanto claimed victory in an Arkansas trial, its 11th win to date on Roundup-related litigation. Simultaneously, a Delaware judge declared a mistrial in a separate Roundup trial, the first of its kind in the state.

The trial in Arkansas took place at the Conway Circuit Court and commenced on February 15. Robert Cody filed the lawsuit on behalf of his late wife, Wanda Cody, who succumbed to non-Hodgkin lymphoma. In a decision announced on Friday, the jurors sided with Monsanto.

In the parallel Delaware trial, the jury was deadlocked leading to New Castle County Superior Court Judge Vivian Medinilla declaring a mistrial. Further details of this complex litigation were not immediately available.

Both cases form part of the wider controversy surrounding the potential harmful effects of the pesticide Roundup. Monsanto, now a subsidiary of Bayer, continues to face a multitude of lawsuits regarding the product. For more information on the Arkansas and Delaware verdicts, visit here.
