The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania recently welcomed a new chief judge, Mitchell Goldberg. His primary objective as chief judge is to ensure that all judges in his district have the necessary resources to perform their roles efficiently, as reported by The Legal Intelligencer.
According to Goldberg, individual judges carrying out their duties in the courtrooms is the core of the important work being completed in the field. He further elucidates that the key function of the chief judge, as well as that of the clerk of court, is to lend comprehensive support to the activities transpiring within the courtrooms.
Aside from these responsibilities, Goldberg also spoke about his concern regarding the growing misconceptions about the judiciary. Strengthening the wider public understanding that judges exert every effort to maintain impartiality, he believes, could help dispel some of these misconceptions that have been formed in recent years.
