A recent salary survey in Canada has shown a significant disparity between male and female in-house counsels’ salaries. On average, male lawyers were found to earn nearly CA$20,000 more per year than their female equivalents. Further highlighting this discrepancy, the gap in salaries reportedly increases to over $120,000 per year among more seasoned legal professionals.
This gender bias isn’t limited to a specific level of seniority. Across the board, women were found to earn less than their male counterparts. Increasingly, this compensation divide grew proportionally with each higher rung in the seniority ladder. The report’s discovery was released earlier this week.
Beyond gender, the survey also uncovered substantial wage gaps among various work arrangements. Specifically, the most notable salary inequalities were observed between hybrid, remote, and on-site workers.
