In an unexpected turn of events, Scott MacCormack, Managing Partner at Davis Wright Tremaine, is stepping down from his role, the firm announced on Wednesday.
MacCormack has been the leader of the Seattle-based law firm since 2021. As part of this transition, the firm’s executive committee has named Pete Johnson, the partner-in-charge of its Seattle office, as Interim Managing Partner while the search for a permanent replacement is underway.
The firm’s executive committee expressed their gratitude for MacCormack’s contributions during his tenure, acknowledging the significant impact he has made. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, under MacCormack’s leadership, Davis Wright Tremaine launched a new strategic plan, completed a successful merger with McGonigle, and finished the year 2023 in a healthy financial position. Infact, it recorded its 11th consecutive year of revenue growth in 2023, increasing its gross revenue by 9% to more than $563.5 million. Equity partner profits also surpassed the $1 million mark for the first time in the firm’s history.
Despite MacCormack stepping down from his leadership role, he will continue to remain associated with the firm, according to the official statement. The firm’s executive committee remains positive about future prospects, hinting at another year of success in the pipeline.
