Fennemore Craig, a law firm based in Arizona, has begun a recruiting spree from Denver boutique firm Moye White, bringing in approximately 50 lawyers. This significant move brings a near-closure to Moye White, which has been operating for roughly half a century. The recruited talent pool also consists of about 30 legal professionals. Fennemore Craig is projected to complete the hiring process later this year, according to CEO James Goodnow.
This development closely follows Fennemore Craig’s strategy of expansion. Apart from bolstering its workforce with individual law professionals, the law firm has also widened its footprints geographically. The company’s growth tactics have seen them acquire three smaller law firms in Sacramento, San Diego, and Seattle in the first three months of this year.
In a recent interview, Goodnow revealed an ambitious target of achieving $200 million in annual gross revenue by 2025, which equates to about a 40% increase from last year’s $143.2 million gross revenue.
The new hires would be instrumental in enhancing Fennemore Craig’s capabilities in corporate transactions, litigation, and energy practice groups. “They are strong in the areas where the Denver economy is booming”, said Goodnow. This addition will be vital for increasing services for existing clients and will help the firm diversify its practice areas, thereby ensuring it can endure fluctuating demand.
Moye White’s litigation team has a reputable history and has represented break-through cases against companies like AT&T Corp and Amazon Corp. A group of remaining staff at Moye White is expected to oversee the operational wind-down.
Fennemore Craig’s growth ambitions don’t stop here. The law firm is on the lookout for future lateral hires. However, don’t expect any significant group hires or more acquisitions for the remainder of the year, says Goodnow.
