In a recent industry report, lawyers at law firms employing advanced technologies reported higher job satisfaction and efficiency compared to their peers at less tech-centric firms. These findings stem from the 2024 Technology Perceptions Report crafted by Intapp which, cumulatively, surveyed 805 fee earners across the U.S. and U.K. The respondents were from assorted professional sectors such as accounting, consulting, financial services, and law. Notably, 28% (222) of the participants were from law firms.
Paralleling the increase in job satisfaction, law practitioners at high-tech firms showed a higher propensity to continue their tenure at current organizations – 73% expressing a high likelihood to stay in their current job against a meager 61% at poorer technologically equipped firms. Moreover, high-tech firms bagged a higher recommendation rate (75%) from employees as against a lesser 53% seen in the mid- or low-tech firms. Details of these findings shed light on the increasing significance of technological adoption in the legal sector.
Despite the positive attitude towards technology use, the report underlined that many legal professionals admitted to not engaging AI in day-to-day operations. This implicit reluctance or reservation towards using advanced tools and systems may hint at why some firms are slow to modernize.
