Global law firm Ashurst has brought on board international trade expert Claus Zimmermann as a partner in Brussels. Zimmermann’s remit will be to spearhead the firm’s European Union and international trade litigation, policy and regulatory practice. His tenure at Ashurst begins May 1, having moved from Noerr, a law firm based in Germany. Accompanying his transition to Ashurst are an associate and a senior regulatory affairs adviser. Furthermore, another associate is expected to join his team come October 1, according to an announcement from the firm.
Ashurst’s decision to bolster its EU and international trade law capabilities is a reflection of the growing demand from clients for guidance on international trade law. This surge in demand has been prompted in large part by escalating geopolitical risks across the world.
