New Jersey Legal Professionals Tackle Stress, Foster Mindfulness in Wellness Initiative

At a panel focused on the mental health of attorneys, sponsored by the New Jersey state judiciary, current and former legal professionals candidly shared their experiences with the often high-stress nature of the legal world. One of these individuals was Cheyne R. Scott, a labor and employment partner at New Jersey law firm Chasan Lamparello Mallon & Cappuzzo PC, who recollected a moment in January 2016 that led her towards a path of mindfulness, which began alarmingly with a trip to the emergency room.

This panel discussion is part of a larger wellness initiative in the New Jersey legal field. The initiative is aimed at promoting a healthier work environment for attorneys and addressing the various stressors that lawyers routinely encounter. The campaign outlines methods to manage stress effectively and lays out steps toward building a culture of mindfulness within the lawyering profession.

By bringing issues of mental health and stress management to the fore, these legal professionals are providing valuable insights for their peers and paving the way for progressive changes in the legal industry.
