Perkins Coie Expands to London, Targets European Tech and Private Equity Market

According to recent reports, the global law firm Perkins Coie is set to open its first office in London, marking its initial foray into Europe. The firm’s decision to establish a European base was broadcasted earlier this year and is now taking shape rapidly.

Additionally, this move comes following a year of impressive revenues for Perkins Coie wherein the firm reported its gross revenue at a remarkable $1,211,295,000 in 2023. The London office intends to cater primarily to the budding local startup tech market, contributing a six-lawyer team for the same. Detailed information can be found in this Bloomberg Law report.

The London office will be under the leadership of Ian Bagshaw, previously the co-head of White & Case’s global private equity practice. To bolster its operations, Perkins Coie will also welcome three other lawyers from White & Case, including the former head of the Central & Eastern Europe technology, media & telecommunications practice, Jan Andrusko. He will assume the office of the European head of M&A at Perkins Coie.

In addition to serving existing mature technology clients of Perkins Coie spread across London, the office aims to be the go-to address for local and European venture capital, private equity, and startup clients, as suggested by Bagshaw in an interview.

Bill Malley, the firmwide managing partner of Perkins Coie, envisions their London branch quickly becoming the legal advisor of choice for European companies and private equity firms as they navigate technological and economic disruptions. Thus, the firm’s London move is greeted with optimism and high expectations.

To Perkins Coie, we extend congratulations on their new London office. You can find more details about their move in this report.
