Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan is enhancing its antitrust and competition practice by bringing on Kevin Arquit as a partner and co-chair. Arquit’s extensive experience in antitrust law spans across several top law firms including Weil, Gotshal & Manges; Simpson Thacher & Bartlett; Kasowitz Benson Torres; and Clifford Chance.
Most recently, Arquit served as chief legal officer for the US unit of Brazil’s JBS SA, the world’s largest meat producer, where he spent the past three years building an in-house legal and compliance team. During his tenure, he dealt with significant antitrust challenges and was instrumental in hiring new compliance chiefs for JBS and its affiliate Pilgrim’s Pride.
Quinn Emanuel’s recruitment strategy appears to be influenced by the current surge in antitrust actions under President Joe Biden. The firm, which achieved over $2 billion in gross revenue in 2023, has a robust litigation portfolio and has been representing JBS and its affiliates in antitrust cases.
Arquit expressed his optimism about joining Quinn Emanuel, citing the firm’s aggressive approach to litigation and its strong ties to JBS as factors that influenced his decision. He will continue to consult for JBS while also advising other clients during this active time for antitrust enforcement.
