LexisNexis Acquires Henchman to Enhance Contract Drafting with AI Integration

In a notable strategic move, LexisNexis has acquired Henchman, a contract drafting tool provider co-based in Belgium and New York. This acquisition is anticipated to enhance LexisNexis’ existing suite of products by integrating Henchman’s capabilities into platforms such as Lexis+ AI and Microsoft 365 add-in solutions. The core functionality of Henchman, which involves indexing a firm or company’s documents at the clause level and delivering them intelligently in environments like Microsoft Word or Outlook, will now be available to new and existing LexisNexis customers.

Announced during a press conference, the integration of Henchman aims to streamline the workflow of legal professionals by centralizing past clauses and definitions from contract databases. By automatically indexing documents, Henchman allows users to draft contracts more efficiently, reducing the time spent on searching through old contracts or consulting colleagues for relevant precedents. Moreover, the technology will be integrated with Lexis+ AI’s Retrieval Augmented Generation 2.0, enabling the use of trusted customer data for generative AI drafting. Henchman’s capabilities will also be added to Lexis® Create, enhancing point-of-workflow integration for generative AI drafting across Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Teams, and Copilot.

The deal is expected to be finalized in the latter half of the year, and with it, some of Henchman’s unique, humorous marketing approach may also enter the fold—bringing a fresh perspective to LexisNexis’ branding strategies.
