In a pointed response to the recent letter from 21 state attorneys general urging the American Bar Association to eliminate race-based criteria from its accreditation process, 19 other state AGs have rallied to defend diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Spearheaded by Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul, the coalition’s letter addresses not only the ABA but also targets what they perceive as unwarranted assaults on corporations committed to such inclusive practices. “We also write to respond to coordinated attempts to contort the law and invalidate programs aimed at eliminating and preventing racial inequities,” the signatories communicated.
