FTC Investigates TikTok Over Allegations of Mishandling Children’s Data as Privacy Concerns Resurface

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has once again set its sights on TikTok, suspecting the popular social media platform of violating children’s privacy. This follows a settlement five years ago in which TikTok’s parent company paid $5.7 million over a previous FTC investigation concerning children’s privacy. According to the FTC’s recent allegations, the company may have continued to mishandle the personal data of underage users. These fresh accusations have prompted the FTC to refer the matter to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for further scrutiny.
