Law Firms’ Pro Bono Work Rebounds to Near Pre-Pandemic Levels, 2024 Scorecard Reports

Pro bono hours among law firms are showing a steady recovery toward pre-pandemic levels, according to the 2024 Am Law Pro Bono Scorecard. The Scorecard reveals that 120 firms collectively reached 5.15 million pro bono hours in 2023. This signifies a 2.8% increase from the previous year’s total of 5.01 million hours at 121 firms, and a substantial 12.2% rise from the 4.59 million hours recorded in 2021. Notably, almost half of U.S. lawyers at these firms devoted at least 20 hours to pro bono work during the year.
