One of the Delaware defamation cases against the conservative Newsmax television network has seen a slew of filings aimed at challenging expert witness testimony. This legal clash involves Smartmatic, the voting technology company, represented by Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff, and Newsmax, represented by Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor, Todd & Weld, and Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders.
The parties each filed new motions on July 18 to exclude all or part of the other side’s expert testimony. This marks the latest development in a contentious battle that has intensified in recent months. According to a report from Law.com, hundreds of filings in June and July have been made in connection with these motions.
Beyond the wrangling over expert testimony, both sides have also filed motions for summary judgment that remain undecided. Additionally, each has moved for the other to be sanctioned or held in contempt, adding another layer of complexity to this high-stakes legal drama.
