Fast-food giant Burger King has lost a long-running dispute against a small burger chain in India, allowing the underdog to keep its royal name. Burger King Corp. v. Anahita Irani and Another began more than a decade ago when the U.S. company, with its 13,000-strong global chain, went after Anahita and Shapoor Irani, a couple who’d been running their ‘Burger King’ outlets in Pune’s Camp and Koregaon Park since 1992. The U.S. giant, which entered the Indian market in 2014, claimed the Pune joint was harming its brand.
