Australian Court Awards $10,000 to Transgender Woman in Landmark Gender Identity Case

An Australian court has awarded a transgender woman AUS$6,720 (US$10,000) in compensation after she was blocked from using a women-only social media platform. The judge ruled that sex is changeable by its ordinary meaning. Transgender woman Roxanne Tickle sued the social media platform Giggle for Girls, a now-defunct app “made for women by women”, after the platform said Tickle was “considered male” and blocked her.
