Tom Girardi Convicted of Wire Fraud: Will 85-Year-Old Former Attorney Face Prison Time?

Tom Girardi was convicted on Tuesday of four counts of wire fraud, raising the question of whether the 85-year-old will serve a prison sentence. While Girardi faces up to 80 years in prison, federal prosecutors suggest that the sentencing guidelines could place him in the range of nine to 14 years. Following Girardi’s conviction, U.S. Attorney E. Martin Estrada of the Central District of California stated, “The mere fact he’s an older adult doesn’t mean he won’t serve a prison sentence” (Law.com).
