The Guess Who Bandmates Resolve Lengthy Trademark Dispute Over Band Name

Members of the Canadian rock band The Guess Who have reached a settlement in their ongoing trademark dispute concerning the band’s name. The dispute centered around allegations that two of the bandmates had deceptively promoted a cover band as the original group.

The plaintiffs in the case, Burton Cummings and Randolph Charles “Randy” Bachman, announced they have acquired “The Guess Who” trademark as part of the settlement terms. Specific details of the settlement remain confidential, and the lawsuit’s docket had not been updated with the settlement notice as of Wednesday afternoon.

“We are pleased with the outcome,” the two sides jointly announced on September 4. This resolution brings an end to a legal battle that has created significant tension among the band’s former members.
