Federal Judge Sides Partially with JPMorgan in Trade Secrets Case Against Argus

A recent ruling by a federal judge in Delaware has partially favored JPMorgan Chase & Co. in the ongoing legal conflict with Argus Information & Advisory Services. JPMorgan alleged that Argus misused anonymized credit card data collected from banks, thus violating a federal trade secrets law. The judge has ruled that JPMorgan’s allegations sufficiently support the federal claim.

However, the judge dismissed JPMorgan’s assertion that Argus also contravened a Delaware state trade secret law. The dismissal of this claim signifies a partial setback for JPMorgan in their efforts to broaden the scope of their legal arguments against Argus.
