Shapiro previously held leadership roles at the MacArthur Justice Center from 2012 to 2023 and has a strong background in civil rights law, including notable achievements as a civil rights attorney. He also has experience with the ACLU National Prison Project and has argued various civil rights cases nationwide. His educational credentials include a law degree from Yale Law School and an undergraduate degree from Harvard University. As Shapiro prepares to lead the Center, his mission will involve expanding its public profile and increasing fundraising capabilities.
