Hertz General Counsel Colleen Batcheler to Depart Amidst Leadership Transition and Legal Challenges

Hertz Global Holdings has announced the departure of its General Counsel, Colleen Batcheler, effective April 10, 2024. Batcheler, who joined the company in May 2022, is leaving to pursue a role outside the organization. She will remain in a non-executive capacity until April 20 to assist with the transition.

During her tenure, Batcheler played a pivotal role in navigating Hertz through significant legal challenges. Notably, in December 2022, under her leadership, the company settled 364 customer lawsuits for $168 million. These lawsuits stemmed from false accusations of vehicle theft against customers. Following Batcheler’s departure, Katherine Lee Martin, who joined Hertz in May 2023 as Vice President, Chief Counsel, and later assumed the role of Chief Compliance Officer, was appointed Interim General Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary in April 2024. In July 2024, Martin was promoted to Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary. Before her tenure at Hertz, Martin held senior leadership positions at X Corp. and Twitter, managing complex litigation, regulatory, and competition matters. She also served over a decade as an Assistant U.S. Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice. ([hertz.gcs-web.com](https://hertz.gcs-web.com/about/Leadership-Team/?utm_source=openai))
