Coherent Corp., a global leader in materials, optics, and photonics technology, has entered into a multi-year partnership with Eudia, an AI platform designed for in-house legal teams, to establish a fully AI-native legal function. This collaboration aims to integrate Eudia’s Sigma suite of augmented AI agents into Coherent’s legal operations, enabling both in-house and external teams to work on a unified platform.
By leveraging AI for document creation, editing, and review, as well as workflow development and system integration, Coherent plans to build a legal “brain” that enhances efficiency and provides insights to drive the company’s growth. This initiative will augment key legal domains, including commercial operations, intellectual property, litigation, trade compliance, and regulatory enablement, signifying a fundamental shift in how in-house legal functions operate at scale.
Rob Beard, Chief Legal Officer of Coherent, emphasized the strategic importance of this partnership, stating, “At Coherent, we don’t see legal AI as a future trend—we see it as a present strategic imperative.” He highlighted that Eudia’s exclusive focus on in-house teams and its ability to integrate company knowledge into a unified platform made it the clear choice to help Coherent transition from reactive support to proactive leadership.
Unlike AI tools focused on individual legal tasks, Eudia offers a single, AI-native system that captures institutional knowledge, streamlines workflows, and activates legal insight across the entire enterprise. This approach enables in-house teams to own their strategic knowledge, apply it consistently, and amplify their value company-wide.
With full access to Sigma, Eudia’s secure, AI-powered productivity engine, Coherent’s legal team will be able to:
- Search contracts, precedent, and past deals instantly with natural language, reducing research time from hours to seconds.
- Auto-generate summaries, extract key terms, and accelerate executive and board-level reporting and decision-making.
- Draft, redline, and negotiate documents with AI-enhanced suggestions grounded in the company’s preferred positions.
- Enable smooth cross-border collaboration with embedded translation that preserves legal nuance.
- Complete due diligence reviews in hours, not weeks.
This deployment will also include Cortex, Eudia’s customizable enterprise AI framework. Through joint design sprints, Cortex will be trained and tuned to match Coherent’s specific voice, policies, and legal processes, creating a legal knowledge environment that improves over time and scales with business priorities.
Omar Haroun, CEO of Eudia, noted, “Coherent is showing the entire industry what a legal function can become when it’s built on one unified platform. They’re not plugging in another tool—they’re building a Company Brain: an always-on intelligence layer that turns company knowledge into competitive advantage. That’s not just innovation—that’s leadership.”
As the partnership progresses, Eudia and Coherent plan to co-develop next-generation capabilities, including agent-based risk triage, real-time clause comparison, and live co-authoring, as part of Coherent’s continued transformation into a fully AI-augmented legal organization.
This collaboration builds on Eudia’s recent expansion of its AI-Augmented Contracting group and onboarding of over 300 embedded legal professionals, all in support of in-house legal modernization. These moves reinforce Eudia’s core vision: that human expertise and machine learning, when integrated through a single in-house system, can outperform the traditional patchwork of external tools and fragmented workflows.
Haroun added, “This is what Eudia was built for. High-stakes environments. End-to-end transformation. And legal leaders who aren’t content with marginal gains—they want exponential ones. Coherent understands that driving legal innovation isn’t about automating faster—it’s about thinking smarter.”
As the partnership evolves, Eudia and Coherent will continue to co-develop next-generation capabilities, from intelligence unlocks and automated strategy mapping to legal operations integration with adjacent functions like procurement, compliance, and finance. Together, they aim to demonstrate that with the right foundation, AI can elevate legal teams into critical centers of business intelligence, insight, and impact.
