North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson and Utah Attorney General Derek Brown have announced the formation of a bipartisan task force aimed at addressing the challenges and risks associated with artificial intelligence (AI). This initiative, launched in collaboration with AI developers OpenAI and Microsoft, seeks to develop safeguards for AI technologies and establish a forum for monitoring AI developments.
Attorney General Jackson emphasized the urgency of this initiative, stating, “AI is moving fast, and so are the risks. Congress hasn’t put basic protections in place, and we can’t wait. As attorneys general, our job is to keep people safe. AI is becoming part of everyday life for families and kids. Taking thoughtful steps now will help prevent harm as this technology becomes more powerful and more present in our daily lives.” ([wect.com](https://www.wect.com/2025/11/13/attorney-general-jeff-jackson-launches-new-task-force-address-ai-risks/?utm_source=openai))

Additionally, in September 2024, a bipartisan coalition of 44 state and territory attorneys general endorsed the Child Exploitation and Artificial Intelligence Expert Commission Act of 2024. This Act aims to establish a commission to investigate and make recommendations on solutions to improve the ability of law enforcement agencies to prevent, detect, and prosecute child exploitation crimes committed using AI.
