Senior Magistrate Judge Selena E. Molina of the Delaware Court of Chancery has announced her intention to depart from the bench, effective February 28, 2026, to pursue a career as a professional neutral. In this new role, she plans to offer services as a mediator, arbitrator, subject-matter expert, and court-appointed magistrate.
Judge Molina’s tenure with the Court of Chancery began in January 2019 when she was appointed as a Magistrate in Chancery. She was elevated to Senior Magistrate in January 2025, a role in which she has been instrumental in managing the court’s increasing caseload and assisting with administrative duties.
Before her judicial appointment, Judge Molina practiced as an associate in the litigation departments of Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr and Richards, Layton & Finger. She also served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable William C. Carpenter, Jr. of the Delaware Superior Court and as a Wolcott Fellow to the Honorable Randy J. Holland of the Delaware Supreme Court. She earned her B.A. summa cum laude from Widener University and her J.D. magna cum laude from Widener University School of Law.
The Court of Chancery has experienced significant growth in its Magistrate bench in recent years, expanding from three to five magistrates in 2024, with plans to add two more in 2025. This expansion reflects the court’s commitment to managing its increasing workload effectively.
Judge Molina’s departure marks a notable transition for the Court of Chancery as it continues to adapt to the evolving demands of its jurisdiction.
