Hecker Fink LLP has announced the addition of Jeffrey Fisher, a seasoned Supreme Court advocate, as of counsel in its Los Angeles office. Fisher, who previously served at O’Melveny & Myers LLP, brings a wealth of experience, having argued 50 cases before the Supreme Court, focusing on criminal justice and civil rights matters. Notably, he represented TikTok content creators challenging a U.S. law that sought to ban the platform unless divested by its Chinese parent company, citing free speech violations.
Founded in 2017, Hecker Fink has established itself as a prominent litigation boutique, specializing in white-collar defense, appellate litigation, and public-interest cases. The firm has represented clients such as Columbia University, Alaska Airlines Inc., and Uber Technologies Inc. Additionally, it has taken on high-profile cases against the Trump administration, including a lawsuit filed by Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) against federal housing officials and the defense of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran man wrongfully deported and now facing federal charges in Tennessee.
With Fisher’s arrival, Hecker Fink now boasts 98 attorneys across offices in New York, Washington, and Los Angeles. Fisher will continue his role as co-director of Stanford Law School’s Supreme Court Litigation Clinic, providing pro bono representation before the high court. He expressed enthusiasm about joining Hecker Fink, highlighting the firm’s commitment to public-interest litigation and addressing core constitutional questions.
Sean Hecker, co-founder of the firm, emphasized that Fisher’s addition enhances their ability to tackle significant public-interest cases, particularly those raising fundamental constitutional issues. Fisher noted the challenges posed by the current 6-3 conservative majority in the Supreme Court, emphasizing the need to adapt legal arguments to align with the justices’ interpretative approaches.
Hecker Fink’s strategic expansion in Los Angeles began with the hiring of Mack Jenkins, former chief of the Criminal Division at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California, who joined as a partner to lead the new office. This move underscores the firm’s commitment to strengthening its presence on the West Coast and enhancing its appellate and public-interest litigation capabilities.
Fisher’s transition from O’Melveny & Myers, a firm with a storied history dating back to 1885 and a global presence, to Hecker Fink reflects a strategic alignment with the latter’s focus on impactful litigation and constitutional advocacy.
