Hogan Lovells Cadwalader Expands New York Banking Practice with Key Partner Appointment

Hogan Lovells Cadwalader has expanded its Banking and Loan Finance practice in New York by appointing Christopher Thalhammer as a partner. Thalhammer, who previously served as Head of Legal for the Fund Finance division at Macquarie, brings extensive experience in fund finance to the firm.

Thalhammer’s tenure at Macquarie spanned 15 years, during which he led legal operations for the company’s fund finance business. His expertise encompasses a range of financing structures, including net asset value (NAV) facilities, hybrid facilities, and subscription-based lending. His addition is expected to enhance the firm’s capabilities in advising financial institutions and asset managers on complex financing arrangements.

This appointment is part of Hogan Lovells Cadwalader’s broader strategy to strengthen its fund finance practice. In September 2026, the firm welcomed Jakarri Hamlin as a Banking & Loan Finance partner in its Los Angeles office. Hamlin, who joined from Mayer Brown, has a strong background in NAV and back leverage facilities. His return to the firm was highlighted by Wes Misson, Global Managing Partner – Finance, who noted Hamlin’s versatility and exceptional track record in fund finance, structured finance, and derivatives.

The firm’s commitment to expanding its fund finance capabilities is further evidenced by its globally integrated team, which advises across the full fund lifecycle. This includes pre-fundraising bridge solutions, investment and portfolio management, and end-of-life liquidity and restructuring. The team has advised on more than $2 trillion in fund finance commitments since 2018, reflecting the scale of its platform and the trust placed in it by leading banks and credit providers.

These strategic hires and the firm’s ongoing investments in its fund finance practice underscore Hogan Lovells Cadwalader’s dedication to providing comprehensive and sophisticated legal services to clients in the financial sector.
