Republican Lawmakers Request Probe into Rhode Island Federal Judge Over Alleged Conflict of Interest

Two Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives have called for an investigation by the First Circuit into the actions of a federal judge in Rhode Island. The judge in question had previously blocked a spending freeze imposed by the Trump administration. The complaint centers around the judge’s alleged conflict of interest, given a connection to one of the fund recipients affected by the freeze. This request for an investigation was confirmed by the office of one of the congressmen to Law360 on Wednesday.
